Who Is Alison Wilson - And Why Should I Listen To Her?

I spent so much time getting in my own way and sabotaging my dreams. 

I was bullied at school – mainly name-calling and bitchy stuff, but it affected my confidence for a long time. 

I went off to University and this lack of confidence actually stopped me from doing the degree I really wanted to do (Psychology) when I discovered that part of the course involved presenting to groups.

And so I drifted into a career I didn’t really know much about and spent the next 20+ years climbing the career ladder.

On the outside, I probably looked like I had it all – my own team, my own office, and money to spend on all the holidays I wanted. 

But I was dying inside most of the time. 

I felt stressed, overwhelmed, and unfulfilled. I’d struggle with difficult situations and often lacked confidence in what I was doing. 

I felt trapped by my career, but the thought of starting at the bottom with something else filled me with shame and dread. 

Living a life that wasn’t aligned with my values and strengths eventually took its toll. I ended up off sick with stress and burnout. 

So began my journey of self-discovery and finally I found the self-belief and courage to make a move. 

I overcame the limiting beliefs which had been holding me back, which led me to a new life in leadership development, and to starting my own business as a career and mindset coach. 

This felt great, yet something was still holding me back. Although I was so much more aligned with my purpose, I still struggled with focus so I could make a plan and hold to it. Self-doubt and self-judgement kept me from truly fulfilling my potential. 

I was frustrated because I wanted so much MORE. I wanted to put my whole self into my work and my business, to approach every situation and problem with curiosity and creativity.

The programme begins with a 7 week ‘bootcamp’ where you will learn simple and implementable techniques and feel motivated through instant feedback on your progress in building the 3 core muscles of mental fitness.  

You will be supported by me as your coach and will have accountability through weekly coaching check ins. Research has shown this to be a critical success factor for establishing lasting new positive habits of the mind.

So What Is Mental Fitness?

You know how much better you feel when you are physically fit.  If your fitness is waning a little (or a lot) you know what to do to get back on track.  You know how you can measure it.

But how about your mental fitness?

You could be more successful, feel happier and have better relationships at work and at home, but how do you boost your mental fitness?  And how do you measure it?

Put simply, mental fitness is your capacity to respond to life’s challenges with a positive rather than a negative mindset.

The Mental Fitness Programme is based on the best-selling book by Shirzad Chamine which you will receive as an audiobook when you sign up for the program.

The program incorporates original research, bringing together neuroscience, positive psychology, cognitive behavioural psychology, and performance science in a way that is easy to understand and quickly apply.

Mental fitness is measured on a ratio of how much time you react to negative emotions such as stress, guilt, shame, regret, and anger (your saboteurs) vs how much time you react to positive emotions such as empathy, curiosity, gratitude, and calm, laser-focused action (your sage).

Some people believe that negative emotions are helpful. For example, they think stress gives them their performance edge, or beating themselves or others up is helpful for continual improvement.

Feeling pain for a split second when your hand touches a hot stove is indeed useful, delivering an important alert. But your saboteurs keep your hand on the hot stove, continuing to feel negative emotions which harm both performance and happiness.

In this program we learn to use negative emotions as a helpful alert, and then quickly shift to the positive region of the brain that has the calm clarity, objectivity, and creativity to handle the challenge most effectively.

The programme will be led by Alison who is a PQ Coach™.  Alison is a certified life coach who has worked with many clients on both a one on one and group basis.

Shirzad Chamine conducts each of the weekly video sessions. Shirzad will also participate daily in the exclusive online community of the program participants to answer questions, provide coaching, and cheer you on.
